The Legacy of the Northshield Coronet

By Brendan O Corraidhe, delivered 12th Night, AS XXX

Prince and Princess - proud you stand!
New-made here in Honor's Hall
Arm of Valor, Beauty's Heart
Princely prizes on your brows

Stellar Coronets you wear
Famous footsteps following
Learn the lessons of your line
Hear the hist'ry of your house

Targets choose, aim sure and true:
Tarquin and Queen Aibhiline
Last to sit the Dragon throne
As Northshield Prince and Princess

Strength of will, like iron-bound oak:
Osis and Valthiona
Voice of thunder, Ring-giver
Silver-tress'ed Jarlinde

Steadfast and constant be thou:
King Brannos and Rebekah
Fair of visage, soft of voice
Hearth-fires warm in winter's peace

Be seen in shires, cantons small:
King Finn and Queen Garlanda
Fearsome weapon-wielders they
But do not frighten children

Obey the law above all else:
King Jafar, Queen Catherine
Graceful in the heat of strife
The face of nobility

Bear yourself with dignity:
Dag and Ilsa, Regina
Who stilled the moon in its course
To prolong the evening's joy

Do the thing which must be done:
Finn and Garlanda the First
Dragons created Coronet
for Northshield, because they could

To all give inspiration:
Cariadoc, Diana
First Crown in the Dragon's line
From whom you are descended

Ere the Dragon was the wind
The hills, and plains, and rivers
Aurora and Polaris
Let bright Creation teach you

The wind brings rain, grain-swelling
It blows from vale to valley
Flowers dance in bright breezes
Hailstones humble the haughty

The land gives riches freely
Game aplenty, timber, grain
Asking nothing in return
The rivers bear the burdens

Aurora Borealis
Celestial curtains shining
In ceaseless summer splendors
Silent spectacle on high

In winter's sky, Polaris
Paints the path that travelers tread
Be thou a guide and lantern
When dawn is long in coming

This then is thy legacy,
Prince and Princess of Northshield!
Guard it well, and pass it on.
Dragon Daughter! Dragon Son!
